Plucking a stack of photos from the box, you laugh at the top image, the fashion of your youth making you blush in embarrassment. You rebelled against the norms by dressing head to toe in black, with a metal studded belt and silver chains draped from your pockets.

Blasting songs from your teens through the speaker, you rifle through more pictures. Black skinnies remain your go-to, often paired with a white tee and your faithful studded leather jacket. A longstanding staple, it’s been to pretty much every gig you’ve ever seen, supported you through first dates and kept you toasty in the taxi queue after a night out.

Pulling the jacket out of your wardrobe, you drape it over your shoulders and twirl in the mirror. You’re still as stubborn, defiant and unruly as you were back then, but you’ve matured enough to know that you can express your rebellious streak differently now.

Turning the dial of the black and silver dimmer switch on the landing, you make your way downstairs. Catching sight of the chrome bubble chain pendant suspended above the top set of steps, you stop in your tracks, smiling at how your love of all things dark and dramatic has infiltrated your home. This cascading chandelier hangs down low, spiralling into the stairwell and enchanting anyone lucky enough to see it.
