What smart home systems are compatible with smart dimmers?

The smart dimmer switches in this collection have been tested to work with Philips® Hue™, Alexa™ (either using a Zigbee Alexa or through a Philips Hue hub), Apple® Home (using a Philips Hue hub) and Zigbee2MQTT.

How do I pair my dimmer with my smart home system?

To pair your new dimmer with your smart home system:

1. Put the smart home hub into discovery or pairing mode.
2. Put the smart dimmer switch into pairing mode by pressing and holding the knob down until the connected light responds by flashing off then on.
3. Your dimmer should then be discovered by the smart home hub and will be called ‘Dimmable light 1’.

More detailed instructions will be provided with your dimmer switch to ensure easy set-up.

Will my existing bulbs work with a smart dimmer?

Our smart dimmers are compatible with either incandescent bulbs or dimmable LED bulbs. To support both types correctly, the dimmer has two dimming modes – it’s set to LED mode as default, but can be changed by pressing and releasing the knob 5 times in quick succession when the light is already turned on.

Your LED bulbs must be dimmable, otherwise they won’t work with your dimmer switch. Dimmable bulbs will be labelled as such on the packaging.

Are smart dimmer switches easy to install?

Our smart dimmers come with step-by-step instructions so you can easily install them yourself if you wish. However, you should only attempt to install them yourself if you have a confident knowledge of electrical safety – if in any doubt, stop and get a qualified electrician to complete the installation for you.

Will my smart dimmers still work if the internet goes down?

In the event that your internet goes down, you’ll still be able to use the dimmer switch manually. However, app and voice activation will be offline until your internet connection is back up and running.
