Sneaking in through the front door like a delinquent teenager, you quietly close it behind you so as not to wake the family. Reaching for the matt black dimmer switch, you give it a little twist to illuminate the hallway gently. Having one too many out with friends hasn’t dulled your absolute love for the grand entrance to your home.

Prussian blue colour-drenched walls and ceiling envelope you in a sea of calm. The three black Connaught flush ceiling lights that spread down the length of the corridor entice you towards the kitchen like landing strip lights welcoming you back.

Stumbling on your heels, you kick them off before padding towards the kitchen for a large glass of water before bed. Halfway along, you hear a voice from upstairs loudly whispering, ‘Mummy, is that you’. Freezing on the spot, you wait for whichever child it is to fall back asleep.
