Thundering down the concrete driveway, you head out of suburbia to a spot that makes your heart soar. Climbing carefully over the stile your pace quickens, as you get closer to the lush greenery, the sound of rumbling traffic quieting with each step into the forest.
Bounding over the leaf-littered ground, you gaze upwards, soothed by the tree canopy overhead. There’s magic to the woodland that instils calmness in you, and following your usual path, you make your way to your sanctuary, concealed from the everyday by towering trees.
Nestling down amongst the wilderness, you place your backpack on a rogue tree stump and pull out a book and a bottle of water, ready to while away the afternoon in your happy place.
Breezing through your novel to the soundtrack of rustling leaves and songbirds, you smile, completely comfortable in your makeshift moss seat. A lull in the bird chitter-chatter catches your attention and you tilt your head skywards trying to guess the time.
Trees now silhouetted against the deep orange-hued sky, you close your book, dust yourself off and begrudgingly head out of your hideaway to the comfort of home, fuelled by the prospect of dinner.
