POTT Terracotta Light Shades by Miguel Angel García Belmonte
Have you seen our new POTT terracotta light shades by Spanish designer Miguel Angel García Belmonte of POTT (The Pottery Project)?
These gorgeous lights have been hand-crafted in Spain from terracotta and the unusual ball-shaped pendant lamps called SPONGE UP are perforated with holes designed to mimic the form and texture of sea sponges. How cool is that!
James and I spotted these lights when out and about and we fell in love with them immediately! The way the light diffuses out, creating a hypnotic play of light is just gorgeous. The lights create a beautiful atmosphere in a room with shadow and surface texture.
James immediately set about finding these lovely terracotta pendant lights and tracked them down to their designers in Spain. POTT are fantastic at coming up with unusual lighting ideas by applying traditional techniques and natural materials to contemporary lighting design. We really liked the colours, which give an earthy natural feel. The organic style nature-inspired shapes and eco friendly materials are all very inspiring and we’re very happy to be stocking these lights alongside our usual industrial-style lighting.
We’d say that these terracotta light shades are ideally suited as a main feature in a living room or above a dining table. They are one-of-a-kind spherical lights which are the perfect lighting centrepiece adding a Mediterranean vibe to your interior. They are sure to be a guaranteed talking point if you have friends in your house, everyone that has seen them so far here has coo’ed over them with lots of “ooohs” and “aaahs”!
I want to hang lots of them all over my house (I’m not allowed though, we’re moving soon – bah humbug). You can though! I’ll just have to live vicariously through you all, so tag us in your photos on Instagram @dowsingandreynolds.
