Bustling around the supermarket, you pile your trolley high with picky bits, nibbles and enough drinks to open up your own bar. Meandering the heavy trolley through the checkout, you load up your wares and grin, the prospect of a day spent cooking, arranging and tidying ahead of this evening’s soiree filling you with joy. Hosting is by far one of your favourite ways to while away a day, and the anticipation of seeing the content faces of your friends and family mingling in your inviting deep blue kitchen, inspires you to get to work.
Bundling the many bags through the door, you start unpacking, neatly organising your haul. Snacky bits are carefully stacked on the kitchen island ready to be transformed into a delicious smorgasbord for your friends to tuck into, drinks and glasses line the countertops, and cakes, fruit and other fancies sit on the dining table, awaiting the flurry of guests.
Prep finished, gladrags on and everything in its place, you sashay back into the kitchen. Turning the dial of the dimmer switch, you watch as the black Waldorf three-light fixed pendant suspended above the island dims to an intimate level . Low enough to instil ambience but bright enough to see the fruits of your labour - stacks of enticing food just waiting to be devoured.
