Bundling yourself, bags of shopping and a menagerie of children and animals through the front door, you bustle down the hallway and into the kitchen, fingertips aching from carrying too much. Hauling the bags onto the worktop, you curl and uncurl your hands. It would help if you had a strong hot cuppa to wrap them around. Hurriedly filling the kettle under the swish gold tap, your gaze falls on the discarded cereal bowls and half-drunken mugs of tea in the bottom of the sink. Reaching between them, you fumble blindly for your new gold pop up waste. Ah, there it is.
Pressing firmly down on the pop up sink plug, you hear it click satisfyingly into position. Loving the tiny golden details all around the kitchen, you realise just how much joy they bring to the most mundane tasks.
As the sink fills slowly with hot soapy suds, you quickly do the washing-up, desperate to sit down with that mug of tea.
